Regarding my recent silence
A reader emails:
"Come on, Beldar, there has been a mid-term election Surely you must have something to say about this. What has happened to all those pointed, witty Beldar remarks?"
I wasn't much surprised by the election results. I'd said what I had to say about the Texas governor's race back during the primaries, and I didn't think I had anything unique or particularly interesting to write about any of the other races that wasn't already being at least adequately written by others.
And I don't have the urge right now to comment on the daily missteps of the Obama Administration. I'm instead content, at least for this moment, to continue to rely on a general observation I made over a year ago, just when some of those self-deluding Obama voters were beginning to focus more closely on their new emperor's new clothes:
Amateurs. Incompetents. Ideologues. Full-time politicians turned half-wit government officials. Brilliant leftists who, confronted with the real world, are exposed as clueless idiots and children.
It's going to be a long time until January 2013....
The odds are good that the muse will again take me, but there's no telling when.

We've occassionaly corresponded since the Swiftboat Wars. Your observation from over a year about the Obama administration still holds sway.
I'm hopeful you'll be motivated to comment as November 2012 approaches. Good calls on TX politics but what the heck's wrong with Houston? Too much New Orleans?

The consummate Texan, you say what you think and then shut up. But I confess I miss reading your posts, too.
I read an article on how the Gulf Coast sea life has come back better than ever and experts think it's a result, in part, of the total hiatus on fishing caused by the oil spill. It occurs to me that after the Obama hiatus is over, businesses may bounce back stronger than ever, too. I hope so.

I came back because I hoped you had something useful to say on the Delay conviction. So, what is going on there? Real charges? Sham, political trial?

Yeah, what Greg Q said. I was stunned that the Delay charges were allowed to go to the jury; is there any substance to them after all? I actually wasn't aware that the trial was happening; I had thought it would never get that far. I mean, how can someone go to trial for doing something that there's no law against?
