Fashion and The One

Per the front page of today's WaPo, on what must surely be a slow news day:

The Barack Obama campaign, which has been actively courting the fashion industry, has coordinated some 20 or so designers who are creating official merchandise for the candidate's Web site. It is the first time, as far as Seventh Avenue long-timers can recall, that a quorum of the fashion industry has organized its financial resources and creative energy around a single presidential candidate.

Well, then. I have another reason to continue to be a fashion failure. Thank you, Seventh Avenue.

Personally, I find the fashions from the 1920s going backwards much more beautiful and creative than what one finds on Seventh Avenue these days.

Oh my, someone designed a t-shirt! A tote-bag! A wrap-around dress!

I'm so impressed that "artistic" types are for Obama.

I liked the part about designers are experts at getting people to buy something that's not really worth what they say it is. That's quite fitting for Obama.

The old 7th Avenue saying:

"We will tempt you beyond your ability to resist."

And so goes Obama's message to the clueless. "I will tell you whatever you want to hear...then vote for me."

Obama needs a theme song to go along with his designer duds. I nominate the theme from "Shaft".

No, that's just Givhan. She's a predictable zampolit, if you will. If McCain and Obama showed up naked for the same event, Obama would be a fashion-forward trendsetter while McCain would be exposing himself to confirm patriarchal domination, etc...

Now I get what you mean. Givhan on the front page, that's a slow news day, for sure.
