the horrid gerrymandering of districts is possibly the most under-rated evil of our modern political process. States like Texas, where the GOP managed to redraw a majority and California where the Dems have managed to keep and bolster a majority even with some of the most socialist-kook candidates should well illustrate how bad the situation has become.
I would posit futher that gains by the GOP over the last decade have been not so much a shift in "conservative ideals" so much as a consistant ability of the GOP to gerrymander districts into their favor.

You are in high cotton getting attention from the brilliant Ramesh Ponnuru, senior editor of the prestigious National Review.
I wish I could take credit for alerting him to your expertise on the subject, but I am sure your fans are legion. But, as you know, I have sung your praises every chance I got. Once, you may recall, you came riding to my defense as I had wandered into a liberal website attempting to bring some light and reason to their rabid discussion of Texas redistricting.
May I suggest that you give a prominent place on your website for the link to your writings on Texas redistricting. Ponnuru's reference will likely send many readers searching for more information on the subject. You should make it easy for them to find it.

In Media Matters on November 5, 2004, you wrote, concerning the Texas congressional redistricting cases, that:
"The three-judge panel will summarilly reaffirm it's earlier decision dismissing your claims, and the Supreme Court will affirm that decision without oral argument or written opinion. I'd be willing to place a $1000 bet on that outcome, even-up odds, with any neutral stakeholder you choose to hold our respective bets. Put your money where your mouth is, sir?"
