Having the guts to shut up

Knowing when to shut up takes excellent judgment, confidence in oneself, and confidence in the judge or jury before whom one is arguing.

But when one has those qualities and the guts to apply them, it's sublime. And the judges and juries are genuinely grateful.

Wonderful observation.

The most difficult discipline to master in any kind of negotiation... Knowing when to stop talking and rely on the other party's imagination to supply the unsaid.

Many people over talk their positions out of: nervousness, guilt, ignorance, fear, narcissism, etc. It takes a person with confidence and intelligence to only say what needs said and no more.

After 43 years, I've become convinced that the great secret to life is to learn to control your libido. But the second great secret is to learn to shut up.

Dear Mr. Dyer:

Glad to see you posting again. We need to come up with a way for the bloggers to maintain some continuity. I really appreciate your analysis but I drifted away from your blog when you were apparently preoccupied with more pressing business.

Somehow we need to come up with a way for web scribes to maintain there audience. The best way to do this seems to be formation of an alliance with other writers and publish jointly.

Thanks,

ROFLMAO.

Thanks for the laugh, Beldar. I'm always glad to be reminded that I couldn't possibly be a worse practitioner than some current members of the bar.
